Church services are at 10am every Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran on Ocean Drive. During tourist season, January through March, additional worship services are held at various locations other than on Plantation Key. Special services are held morning and evening on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent. Immanuel Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, but we endeavor to minister to all Lutherans regardless of synodic affiliation and to all people irrespective of denomination. If you have no church home of your own and are interested in membership or need our services, please contact the pastor. Our facilities are offered at no charge to other non-profit organizations, such as the Scouts, AARP, and A.A. If your organization is in need of a meeting place, call the church office. Our facilities are also used by other church groups in the District and Synod.
Immanuel Lutheran Church enjoys the only pipe organ in the Florida Keys outside of Key West and offers live organ concerts and other musical events throughout the year.
Our church is in the Upper Florida Keys in Tavernier, at approximately Mile Marker 90.1. This is about 60 miles south of Miami along the beautiful Overseas Highway (US Highway #1). Immanuel is easy to find by driving south on the Overseas Highway through Key Largo noting the famous Florida Keys Mile Markers on the signs along the way. After you reach Mile Marker 91, look for our church at the corner of Ocean Drive and the Overseas Highway just a block north of the new Coral Shores High School. Our address is 108 Ocean Drive and our phone number is 305-852-8711. The directions from Key West use the same Mile Markers to guide your way to our front door.
Foundations of Faith. The Lutheran Church espouses three major principles that are: Sola Gratia (a person is saved only by the grace of God) through faith alone (Sola Fides), and all teachings are based on Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura). Baptism of children and adults is administered for the washing away of sin and the creation of faith in the heart by the Holy Spirit working for the Word and the water. The church teaches that the true Body and Blood of our Lord is received in the sacrament of Holy Communion for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith. Lutheran doctrine teaches: “The Just shall live by Faith.” More on what we belief under "What We Believe" at the top of this page.
